Curriculum

The Montessori toddler curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning and independence in a prepared environment that focuses on developing skills in the following areas:

•Social and emotional growth
•Practical Life (independence, coordination, concentration, and a sense of order)
•Sensorial exploration (sizes, shapes, colors, taste, smell, touch)
•Language acquisition and expression (naming, describing, tracing shapes, drawing, painting, sculpting)
•Foundational math concepts (quantity and numeral recognition and association)

Caring for plants and animals, taking part in music and movement activities, having a sense of time (order of the day, days of the week), and observing the variety in the world around them, helps young children to develop an appreciation for the world around them. Movement and physical development (both large and small motor) are developed through activities such as pouring, sorting, building, and movement (structured and free). The curriculum is individualized, allowing children to progress at their own pace and build confidence in their abilities.
